Standard Rigging
Wire
1×19 Stainless Steel Type 316 (low corrosion) wire is used to construct standing rigging. It is swaged to marine eyes, aircraft eyes, turnbuckles, T-balls, stemballs, toggle forks, aircraft forks and other terminal ends. Swageless fittings from Hi Mod, Blue Wave, StaLoc, Norseman and QuickAttach are also used to terminate wire.
Nitronic 50 Rod
Corrosion resistant, high strength and low windage straightened rod is used to construct standing rigging. Rod ends are headed to fit eyes, forks, studs, turnbuckles, T-balls, stemballs and other fittings. Rod heading up to size -40 is headed on-site. Heading larger rod is by arrangement.
High Modulus Polyethylene Covered Aramid Fiber
This material, manufactured by Navtec, is parallel high modulus fibers such as Kevlar or Twaron, which are held together and protected by a polyethylene sheath. The parallel construction is compact and uniform and the orientation of the fibers is in line with the working stress on the cable. This fiber cable can replace Nitronic 50 rods or wire and is recommended for straight-line applications. It offers significant weight savings and is used primarily for backstays, running backstays and checkstays.
